Day 11: On the road again

Yes, we're on the move. We decided to leave Moab a couple of days early and start making our way home. We are caravaning with Jayme and her family. The first part of today's trek was pretty smooth. We ran across (almost literally) a mattress in the middle of the road. Jan called emergency services to report it. Hopefully no one hit it. A bit further down the road, we drove past a brush fire outside of Fruita, CO. It was a good thing we got by there when we did. News reports we caught later said they had closed both sides of I-70 to fight this fire. We stopped in Glenwood Springs for gas & lunch. Once we got back on the road, we got a text from Jayme about stopped traffic in a construction zone east of Vail, CO. Boy what a jam it was! The actual construction zone was maybe a mile long, but the back-up stretched for several miles before that. We would get periodic text updates from Jayme on the traffic. Before we even got into the single lane zone, another text from our friends. It was an S.O.S. - Eugene (the Jeep) had popped an idler pulley and needed help. It probably took us at least 20 minutes to travel the few miles to get to where they were.
Jan drove Aaron back to Silverthorne to get the parts needed to fix up Eugene. After a couple of trips to get all the right parts, we were on the move again...or so we thought. About a half mile down the road, Jayme's Jeep starts overheating. We pull over again. Yet another trip back into town for either a new radiator of stop-leak proved fruitless. A call was placed to AAA for a tow for Eugene and reservations were made for all of us in Silverthorne at the LaQuinta. Tomorrow, the search for a fix continues...
